Space Art
Welcome to Cosmographica

Here are a few pictures from the hundreds that can be viewed at Cosmographica. The new interactive Image Library allows you to search for particular subjects by entering key words. The several albums include traditional space or astronomical paintings, science fiction book covers, and scientific diagrams created for various publications. The images were created over a range of nearly 40 years and show the evolution not only of the artist's technique but of our understanding of the universe; some of the early concepts seem quaint today but serve to remind us that many of our current ideas will be equally amusing to our grandchildren. Much of the early work was created in oil or acrylic paints. Mr. Dixon's purely scientific illustrations are now created primarily with digital techniques, although he has returned to his first love — oil paints — for private commissions.

We hope you enjoy your visit to Cosmographica. Be sure to check out the essays and special features in Flatfile.
